Job DescriptionJob Title: Social Care WorkerLocation: GalwayWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Care Worker to join our client's team in Co. Galway to provide support to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for supporting individuals to live fulfilling and independent lives, promoting dignity, and ensuring that each person receives the highest standard of care.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support individuals with intellectual disabilities in their day-to-day activities, promoting independence and enhancing their quality of life.
  • Act as person in charge in the absence of the service manager.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the people supported, other professionals and the individuals' families.
  • Assist with personal care, daily living tasks, social activities, and community integration.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals, ensuring that they have a voice in their care and treatment.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to individuals, encouraging personal growth and confidence.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes dignity, respect, and equality for all service users.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, attending meetings, reviews, and training sessions as required.
  • Ensure that all services are delivered in line with current legislation, best practice guidelines, and organizational policies.
Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification in Social Care, or a related field (Level 7 or above), with CORU registration.
  • Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
  • A manual, Irish driving license.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A person-centered approach with a focus on individual needs.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Other Requirements:
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
