We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Person in Charge / Residential Service Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of one of our residential houses which supports adults with physical and intellectual disabilities, many of whom have additional clinical needs.The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in ensuring that our service users receive the highest standard of person-centred care in line with HIQA regulations and Communicare’ s core values.As Person in Charge, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated care team, developing and implementing individualised support plans, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements. You will also foster a positive team culture, promote professional development, and work closely with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Act as the Person in Charge (PIC) of the designated centre, ensuring full compliance with HIQA regulations and all relevant legislation.
- Lead and manage the residential service to deliver high-quality, person-centred care that promotes dignity, respect, and independence.
- Ensure the service operates in accordance with best practice guidelines and internal quality standards.
- Oversee all aspects of the centre’s management, including staff supervision, rosters, resource planning, and health and safety compliance.
- Promote and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for service users and staff.
- Ensure that service users are actively involved in decision-making and daily living activities.
- Lead, support, and motivate a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Identify, manage, and report operational risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies in collaboration with senior management.
- Engage in ongoing quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
- Relevant third-level qualification such as Social Care Degree, General Nurse or Intellectual Disability Nurse (with full registration with the NMBI).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within a social or health care service.
- Proven experience working in a HIQA-regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of HIQA Standards, the Health Act 2007, and associated regulations and guidance documents.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
