Partnering Consultancy: In partnership with a leading environmental consultancy, Optimize RecruitmentOptimize Recruitment is proud to partner with a highly regarded consultancy to recruit an experienced Ecologist / Environmental Consultant for their expanding team. This position can be based in either Dublin (southside) ecological and environmental projects nationwide.This is an excellent opportunity for an ecologist with 2+ years of experience who is looking to take the next step in their career, contributing to high‑impact work across multiple industry sectors. The role combines fieldwork and desk-based responsibilities, collaborating with multidisciplinary environmental specialists on innovative and sustainability‑focused projects.Key Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and oversee ecological surveys including habitat classification and surveys for protected/notable species—particularly ornithology.
- Analyse, interpret, and present ecological data using tools such as QGIS.
- Communicate effectively with clients and subcontractors; participate in project meetings.
- Prepare and review ecological reports including:
- Appropriate Assessments (AA)
- Natura Impact Statements (NIS)
- Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA)
- Biodiversity chapters for EIARs
- Species‑specific and other environmental reports
- Mentor and support junior ecologists within the team.
- Assist project managers with the coordination of large‑scale projects.
- Manage smaller projects independently.
- Contribute to proposal development for new and existing clients.
- 2–5 years’ postgraduate experience in ecology or a related discipline.
- Qualification in ecology, environmental science, zoology, earth science, or similar.
- Strong experience in technical report writing (AAs, NIS, EcIAs, EIAR biodiversity chapters).
- Hands-on experience conducting ecological surveys and habitat assessments.
- Excellent knowledge of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation.
- Strong organisational, time‑management, and project coordination skills.
- Collaborative and adaptable team player.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Full clean driver’s licence.
- Eligible to work in Ireland.
- MSc in a relevant field.
- Experience working within an environmental consultancy environment.
- Membership of CIEEM (or eligible for membership).
