Job Description:CCOI are seeking individuals on a new and innovative development for the organisation. Working in the southeast area:Fixed term contract to 31 December 2028CCOI has recently been awarded funding to deliver a Workability Project across the south east area (Kilkenny Sth Tipperary). The WorkAbility: Inclusive Pathways to Employment Programme is a new programme co-financed by the EU Employment, Inclusion, Skills, and Training Programme (EIST) and the Department of Social Protection (DSP). The aim of the WorkAbility Programme is to ensure people with disabilities are fully supported to find and maintain employment and organisations which employ programme participants are supported to ensure that their employment is successful.These new posts will report to the Head of Services and will be based out of our Regional office in Carrick on Suir .PurposeTo support the service (residential community and day service) in developing and fostering a person-centered culture, with an aim to achieve a high quality of personal outcomes, personal fulfillment and progression opportunities within the ethos of CCoI and the regulatory and contractual requirements, of provision.Support individuals using a supported employment model. Engage employers and mainstream services and providers to develop pathways to employment. Assess and profile all placements and assist service users to be fully included in the workplace. Monitor and evaluate performance and development to ensure individual’s progression.To provide, enable and support meaningful work, training and personal development opportunities for people according to their personal interests, choices and strengths.This job description describes the roles and responsibilities as currently envisaged. These may change over time in the light of changing circumstances or developments within the national disability sector programs as contracted by the HSE, ETBs, Pobal, or other.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe duties and responsibilities of the post include but are not limited to the following:
  • To place participants in appropriate employment according to their career goals
  • To work with employers to identify opportunities for participants.
  • Deliver a full support service to employers to ensure their needs are being met and any issues are promptly addressed.
  • To work with other members of the CCOI team in drawing up and delivering training and development activities relevant to participant needs.
  • Conduct all related assessment of the workplace prior to job start, including job profiling and task analysis.
  • Develop a job profile that is compatible with the employers needs and considers the participants interests and abilities.
  • Prepare a detailed job task analysis and identify vocational goals that will feed into participants training and development plan.
  • Assist individuals to learn and carry out tasks to the specifications outlined in the job profile and assess their ability to progress within the work environment.
  • To help individuals to integrate fully into the workplace and with co-workers.
  • Assist individuals to learn the specific requirements and duties of the job as well as other work-related activities such as time keeping, appropriate presentation and attendance.
  • Identify training needs required to maintain employment e.g., travel training.
  • To monitor and evaluate the individual’s performance and development within the work placement and ensure progression by providing continued support.
  • To contribute to progression/performance reviews, monitoring and evaluation of activities and ensure proper records are kept.
  • To liaise with parents, carers, employers, and training staff in respect of supporting plans.
  • To ensure that all aspects of project administration relevant to your activity of work are completed to timescales set and level of accuracy required.
  • To ensure that participant training and development activities are carried out safely.
  • Provide support for individuals going into placement or employment according to need.
  • To represent CCOI in a professional manner and to operate within its policies.
  • To maintain complete confidentiality over the details of individuals or CCOI business made known to you from any source and only to impart such details when authorised to do so by line managers.
  • To partake in any training or personal development activities that is appropriate
  • Contribute, report to and engage with the local management team in terms of providing effective management oversight and safeguarding of people and safe, effective operational management of the supported employment program.
  • To develop proposals for management that will support new opportunities and initiatives with potential to add value to the experience of the individual. Such to include approaches to best practice around the principles of social inclusion for persons with a disability, social enterprise, employment, supported employment, supported self-employment and social role opportunities.

  • Demonstrate tact & diplomacy in representing the CCOI.

Qualifications, Knowledge & ExperienceMust have:
  • Applicants must have a relevant QQI Level Bachelor of Arts in Education or Training or Post Graduate qualification in Education or Training
  • Applications may also be considered from candidates holding other QQI Level Bachelor of Arts qualifications in one of the following: Social Care Studies, Applied Social Care Studies, Teaching
  • A minimum of 1 years’ post qualification experience of working with people with an intellectual disability. Candidates must possess the competencies and skills appropriate to working with persons with an intellectual disability.
  • Experience and skills in working in community and community participation in fostering and building relationships within the community.
  • Minimum of 1 Years experience working as a job coach (or in a relevant community engagement role) with adults with Intellectual Disabilities and/or Autism.
  • Demonstrative experience creating opportunities for work placement or paid work with employers or other relevant community-based opportunities.
  • Experience of New Directions Standards for Day Services.
  • Knowledge of Person Centered Planning.
  • Understanding of the issues and needs of people with disabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent self-organisation, planning, self-motivation, and time management skills
  • Prepared to work in a variety of environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel to key stakeholders sites to develop opportunities for participants.
  • Full clean driving licence
