- Oversee daily Inventory Control operations and ensure all key tasks are completed per business requirements.
- Management of Inventory Operatives, including monitoring and control of overtime, absences, performance, recruitment etc. within established limits.
- Conduct regular coaching and counselling with Inventory employees towards the overall objective of meeting or exceeding jointly established performance goals and related activities.
- Investigate stock variances and provide root cause analysis to the Inventory Manager.
- Develop corrective actions for variances alongside the Inventory Manager and liaise with Operations Management for implementation and tracking.
- Maintain, implement, and update Standard Operating Procedures for all Inventory processes.
- Monitor performance of the Inventory team and individuals through agreed metrics and take action to improve performance when required.
- Review and enhance inventory processes to ensure productivity and efficiency.
- Work closely with all departments regarding all aspects affecting inventory accuracy and adjustments.
- Lead and participate in ad-hoc Inventory projects as required.
- Support the day-to-day management of the DCI function, ensuring all processes are completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Ensure DCI team training and development plans are completed within agreed timelines.
- Monitor DCI performance metrics and put improvement measures in place when necessary.
- Track the root cause of DCI-related issues and work with Inventory and Operations Management to implement corrective actions.
- Cross-functionally with all impacted departments to ensure accuracy of DCI-related adjustments and processes.
- 3+ years' experience in inventory control in food distribution.
- Supervisory experience.
- Fully flexible in relation to start and finish times to meet the needs of the business.
- Experience in change management and continuous improvement.
- Efficient communication and leading skills, with experience in building and developing teams.
- Excellent IT skills and numeracy skill with ability to analyse and interpret data quickly and accurately.
- Natural appetite for identifying, investigating and resolving issues. Proven problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to develop and manage KPIs.
- Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.
- Capable of working collaboratively with peers and colleagues from other departments on a daily basis.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- Qualification or certification in a related discipline advantageous.
