Garage Manager
CREGG are exclusively recruiting for an experienced and hands-on Garage Manager to join our client's team in East Limerick. This is a full-time permanent position. The Garage Manager will have end-to-end responsibility for the management, optimisation, and leadership of all garage activities, ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and compliance.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the in-house garage, ensuring efficient servicing, repair, and maintenance of all fleet vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain structured preventative maintenance systems to minimise downtime and optimise fleet performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with all RSA (Road Safety Authority) and CVRT (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Testing) requirements, maintaining accurate documentation and inspection records within robust compliance systems.
  • Monitor and analyse workshop performance using KPIs, ensuring jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to approved budgets while driving initiatives to achieve financial targets and optimise resource allocation.
  • Provide clear leadership and direction to the team of mechanics and fitters, fostering a high-performance culture through training, mentoring, and regular performance feedback.
  • Ensure all workshop activities adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies, embedding a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Lead the development and expansion of a commercial third-party service offering, complementing in-house fleet maintenance operations to drive new revenue streams and strengthen market presence.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven experience as a Garage Manager, Workshop Supervisor, or similar role within a commercial vehicle or logistics environment, with a track record of managing systems and leading teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HGVs, trailers, and associated mechanical/electrical systems.
  • In-depth understanding of RSA regulations, vehicle inspection requirements, and compliance processes, with the ability to implement effective compliance systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across departments, with drivers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in using computer-based job tracking, maintenance scheduling, and performance reporting systems.
  • Relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g. National Craft Certificate or equivalent) preferred.
  • Full, clean driver's licence (HGV licence advantageous but not essential).
