We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant / Cook to join our friendly team at Douglas Nursing and Retirement Home. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, a team player, and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with food preparation and basic cooking tasks
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Follow food safety standards and kitchen procedures
  • Support the chef or head cook with meal service
  • Help with stock rotation and inventory as needed
About You:
  • Previous kitchen experience preferred
  • Good understanding of hygiene and food safety (Level1/2 Food Hygiene certificate is required)
  • Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
  • Flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends
