
Health & Safety Officer – Kilkenny

- Ensure compliance with all relevant Irish health and safety legislation, including HSA regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits to assess risks and identify hazards.
- Lead on incident and accident investigations, producing clear reports and recommending preventative actions.
- Setting up and driving forward a H&S committee in the company.
- Reviewing how we load, deliver and offload products on factory and customer sites.
- Develop, review, and update health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments in line with regulatory changes and business activities.
- Maintain the company’s H&S documentation and ensure accessibility for all relevant personnel.
- Deliver induction training to new employees and ongoing H&S training for existing staff.
- Attend daily Tier 1 floor meetings and Tier 2 meetings with management to discuss any safety issues
- Promote a safety-first culture through toolbox talks, posters, and regular staff engagement.
- Work with team leaders and supervisors to reinforce safe work practices.
- Respond promptly to incidents or near misses, ensuring they are investigated and reported accurately.
- Liaise with external bodies such as HSE, insurers, or emergency services as required.
- Advise production, maintenance, and management teams on safe equipment use, manual handling, COSHH, PPE, and fire safety protocols.
- Participate in planning and implementing safety improvements during production changes or site modifications
- Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of H&S legislation and manufacturing risk factors.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- First Aid or Fire Warden qualifications.
- Experience within the joinery, construction, or manufacturing sectors (ideally with exposure to CNC machines, woodworking tools, and flammable materials).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or other safety management systems.
- Degree, or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a manufacturing environment.
