Hartley People Recruitment are recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer for our clients growing team in Kilkenny. The health and safety officer will be responsible for Ensuring a safe, compliant, and proactive working environment in our manufacturing facility through effective health & safety systems, training, and culture-building.Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with Irish H&S legislation and HSA regulations.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Lead accident/incident investigations with preventive recommendations.
  • Establish and manage the company H&S committee.
  • Review and improve loading/delivery/offloading procedures.
  • Develop, update, and maintain H&S policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Deliver inductions, ongoing safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
  • Advise teams on equipment safety, manual handling, COSHH, PPE, and fire safety.
  • Liaise with HSE, insurers, and emergency services when required.
  • Support safety planning for production changes and site modifications.
RequirementsEssential:
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish H&S legislation.
  • 3+ years’ manufacturing H&S experience.
  • Strong skills in risk assessments, investigations, and communication.
Desirable:
  • First Aid or Fire Warden qualification.
  • Experience in joinery, construction, or manufacturing with CNC/woodworking exposure.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar safety systems.
  • Proactive and confident in challenging unsafe practices.
