- Support the Head of Data Governance in rolling out the Data Governance framework at MUFG.
- Create and maintain the policies and procedures in accordance with data management best practices, create awareness of these policies and procedures across IT, Business and Supporting Functions.
- Collaborate with the Business Data Office, Data Owners & Stewards and Data Strategy group at MUFG to create a target state operating model for data management, this will include:
- A Data Catalogue,
- Data Taxonomy
- The Monitoring and identification Critical data assets that are essential to the organisation's operations or services (Critical Data Elements),
- Metadata Management
- Data Quality Assessments
- Data issue management and remediation
- Data Maturity assessments
- Assign ownership of data, ensuring there is a clear RACI (responsible, accountable, consulted and informed) matrix in the organisation
- Develop and Create an Enterprise Level Data Scorecard to showcase progress across the various data management capabilities at MUFG, develop and maintain reporting for committees across MUFG.
- Develop foundational data governance training for MUFG, Encourage better data literacy within the organisation by establishing wider data management capabilities within the organisation. Manage and promote our Data Culture.
- Support wider company efforts and projects from a Data Governance perspective with respect to new business, products and services, locations and other strategic initiatives.
- Adhoc projects and initiatives as required to support the Data Governance and wider Risk and Compliance Frameworks.
- Understanding of data governance frameworks and implementation of them
- Understanding of data life cycle management, metadata & lineage (concepts and tools), data quality, ownership, access management etc
- Issue management: designing and overseeing escalation paths and remediation workflows
- Data Analysis and problem-solving skills
- Policy development: ability to draft, review and maintain policies and procedures for data governance
- Risk and control frameworks: ability to embed governance in 1LOD / 2LOD structures
- Reporting: Creation of necessary reports to showcase data risks and issues
- Scorecards: creation of data scorecards to compliment reports
- Knowledge of data maturity assessments and best practice
- Bachelor's degree in information management, Risk, Business, or related field.
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional - DAMA)
- DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model)
- CMIP (Certified Information Management Professional)
- 5+ years of experience in data governance, risk management, or compliance within financial services.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data lifecycle management, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience & proficiency with data governance tools (e.g. MDM, data catalogues, data quality platforms).
- Strong understanding of AWS and M365 products desirable
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional initiatives.
