Positions Available: 2A leading European engineering contractor specialising in mission-critical infrastructure is seeking two experienced Commercial Managers to join its Data Centre Retrofits Division at Head Office level.This organisation delivers complex mechanical and electrical solutions across live data centre environments throughout Europe. With a strong pipeline of retrofit, upgrade, and phased modernisation projects, the commercial team plays a pivotal role in protecting margin, managing risk, and driving financial performance across technically complex programmes This is a senior commercial leadership position offering long-term progression within a high-performing engineering business operating at the forefront of the European data centre market.Reporting to senior commercial leadership, you will take full commercial responsibility for retrofit and upgrade projects across live data centre environments. You will oversee cost control, contract management, procurement strategy, and financial reporting while supporting operational teams in delivering high-value, technically complex works.Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial management of data centre retrofit projects
- Contract administration (NEC / JCT / bespoke forms)
- Manage cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow
- Oversee subcontract procurement and package management
- Identify and mitigate commercial risk
- Manage variations, claims, and final accounts
- Provide strategic commercial input at tender and pre-construction stage
- Work closely with project directors and operational teams
- Ensure governance and compliance with internal commercial procedures
- Support margin protection across live critical environments
- Proven experience as Commercial Manager within MEP or mission-critical construction
- Strong contract knowledge (NEC / JCT or similar)
- Experience delivering works in live environments (data centres advantageous)
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Financially astute with strong reporting capability
- Ability to manage multiple projects and programmes
- €110,000 - €120,000 base salary (circa)
