Role OverviewMy client is currently seeking anT Infrastructure Manager to play a pivotal role in a major IT transformation programme to establish its own internal IT capability, transitioning from reliance on a third-party service provider.Reporting to the IT Transformation Manager, the Central IT Infrastructure Manager will be responsible for the organisation's core IT infrastructure, including data centres, networks, and security (firewalls). The role will oversee operational activities and manage the performance of managed service providers supporting these areas.Key Responsibilities
  • Work with managed service providers to configure and maintain datacentre infrastructure including servers, storage, and operating systems.
  • Oversee core Microsoft infrastructure services such as Active Directory, ensuring security, availability, and optimal performance.
  • Manage routine maintenance, upgrades, and operational activities carried out by service providers in line with internal security policies.
  • Ensure datacentre infrastructure meets relevant security standards and regulatory requirements, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Maintain licence compliance for infrastructure technologies
  • Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to support projects and initiatives.
  • Support infrastructure-related incident management in coordination with service management and application teams.
  • Contribute to the development of the organisation's central IT infrastructure strategy.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years' experience in Microsoft infrastructure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of services such as Active Directory.
  • Extensive experience working with managed service providers supporting datacentres, networks, and security infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of security standards and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware).
  • Understanding of server hardware, operating systems, storage, backup, and disaster recovery.
