Mode: Based on-site with Hybrid post onboardingAbout the RoleOptimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Quantity Surveyor with c. 5 years’ post-graduate experience to join a leading civil engineering contractor. The successful candidate will be commercially responsible for a high-profile flood relief and public realm projects in Cork City, part of a significant programme of works.This landmark scheme involves refurbishment, flood defence construction, drainage upgrades, public realm enhancements, and the integration of heritage restoration works. The role offers a rare opportunity to work on a technically complex city-centre project that combines civil engineering, structural works, and urban regeneration.Salary & Benefits

- Administer and manage the commercial aspects of civil engineering packages
- Prepare and maintain project cost plans, budgets, and forecasts
- Manage procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist services
- Assess and value progress claims, variations, and final accounts
- Negotiate contract terms and commercial agreements in line with company policy
- Monitor project costs, identify risks, and implement cost-control measures
- Liaise closely with site management, engineers, and the client’s representatives
- Maintain accurate financial records, reports, and contractual documentation
- Provide commercial support to ensure project delivery on time and within budget
- Support the Project Manager with cost and programme reporting requirements
- Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field
- 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying, ideally with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil contractor, ideally in the Irish or UK market
- Experience in civil engineering works such as flood defences, quay wall construction, drainage, or public realm projects
- Strong understanding of contract administration, ideally with Public Works contract experience
- Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation, and cost management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary city-centre project environment
- Full Irish driver’s licence
- Irish/UK market experience highly advantageous
