**First Year Apprentice Vacancy** Electrical Instrumentation - At Sulzer Pump Solutions Ireland Ltd, we are offering the successful candidates a great opportunity to join our Electrical Instrumentation Apprenticeship Programme in our plant in Wexford. This is a four-year apprenticeship programme run in conjunction with SOLAS. The apprentice will work with the multiskilled Maintenance Department and be mentored throughout the apprenticeship. Sulzer Pump Solutions Ireland Ltd, is part of the Flow Equipment division of Sulzer specializes in pumping solutions to meet our customers. With our onsite global design team, we engineer and manufacture products and solutions that support water recycling in a sustainable energy efficient way. Our products have been working hard in the environment for over 50 years. We’re proud to support manufacturing in Ireland and our community, and we always strive to make local infrastructure work better. Over 100,000 pumps are manufactured in Wexford annually to control and clean water for a global market. There are currently 260 employees employed in the Sulzer factory in Wexford. As an apprentice you will have the opportunity to learn your trade, developing your skills in Electrical Instrumentation as you work across the different areas of the facility. This apprenticeship program consists of four on-the-job training modules at our facility in Wexford and three off-the-job training modules which may take place at a SOLAS Training Centre and/or designated Institute of Technology based around the country. The modules are usually alternating, and the apprentice must be able to attend the designated training centre for off-the-job training. The duration of the program will be four years but may extend into a fifth year depending on availability/timing of the off-site training modules. Responsibilities include: Your main tasks and responsibilities: • Learning and developing new practical craft-related skills, knowledge and competence • Working with and learning from experienced Craftsperson • Seeing a job through from start to finish • Comply with Health and Safety requirements • Understanding and using physics • Working with electricity or electronics • Being accurate with numbers in counting, measuring and arithmetic • Completing detailed tasks that requires accuracy and careful handling • Working with technical drawings and diagrams • Working with a variety of specialised hand tools, power tools and equipment • Being well organised and careful with practical tasks • Lifting or carrying heavy items • Taking responsibility for their own learning, including the allocation of study time • Being physically active • Bending and Kneeling • Passing all your phase exams (theory, practical’s skills demonstration) To succeed in this role, you will need: • The minimum educational requirement at Sulzer is a successful Leaving Certificate Examination • Planning and Organising Skills • Communicate effectively • Solve problems • Work independently and as part of a team • Show a positive attitude • Recognise the need for good customer relations • Demonstrate good work practices including time keeping, tidiness, responsibility, quality awareness and safety awareness Please note that applicants must be eligible to work in Ireland - there is no relocation or employment permit assistance offered with these opportunities.
