Full-Time | PermanentHartley People Recruitment is seeking a skilled and experienced Process Projects Engineer to support a large-scale manufacturing site in Wexford. This key role offers an exciting opportunity for an engineering professional with a proven track record in managing complex process projects, driving process improvements, and delivering innovation initiatives within a regulated manufacturing environment.The successful candidate will oversee a diverse range of projects, lead process optimisation activities, and support technology transfer and scale-up initiatives. The candidate will act as the subject matter expert on process engineering, supporting site safety and sustainability programs while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver on strategic objectives.A high level of technical expertise, project leadership, and a solutions-focused mindset are essential.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop technical project proposals, including robust budget justifications, for submission to site capital planning processes.
- Oversee project execution, ensuring delivery on time and within budget, while leading cross-functional teams and maintaining clear program reporting.
- Manage external engineering consultancies and contractors through all phases of capital projects, from scope definition and tendering to contract award and performance oversight.
- Drive technology transfer initiatives from other sites to support manufacturing growth and innovation.
- Participate in and lead cross-functional process improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and cost optimisation.
- Provide hands-on process support to operations, technical, and engineering teams to address issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Collaborate with site teams to identify opportunities for future process enhancements and develop business-justified investment proposals.
- Oversee Management of Change (MOC) processes, ensuring compliance with relevant safety, quality, and engineering standards.
- Liaise with regulatory and scientific authorities as required.
- Maintain all relevant engineering records and documentation, protecting proprietary site data and supporting compliance programs.
- Support sustainability targets, including utility efficiency and zero carbon initiatives.
- Contribute technical knowledge in unit operations such as separation, filtration, and blending, supporting optimal process performance.
- Promote and uphold process safety requirements consistent with upper-tier Seveso site standards.
- Other duties as reasonably assigned to meet evolving business needs.
- Degree in Mechanical, Process, or Chemical Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience in a high-volume, advanced manufacturing environment (beverage, food, healthcare, or pharmaceutical preferred)
- Proven experience delivering large-scale capital projects involving cross-functional teams, contractors, and complex budgets
- Strong knowledge of process control, instrumentation, and integrated automation systems
- Ability to troubleshoot plant layouts, equipment design, and control systems efficiently
- Working knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g. ATEX, COMAH, HAZOP, pressure systems, building codes)
- Experience managing design and construction management contracts in the process industry
- Familiarity with Management of Change processes to support process safety
- Knowledge of PLC, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet, and related systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical, planning, and decision-making abilities
- Highly motivated, proactive, and able to prioritise multiple competing demands
