Reports to: Operations ManagerAbout the Role:An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Production Manager to lead and oversee all production and maintenance activities in a busy manufacturing environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient delivery of finished goods in line with production plans, quality standards, and customer expectations.Key Responsibilities:Production Leadership & Operations
- Lead and manage daily and weekly production activities to meet targets and drive operational performance
- Oversee team rostering and ensure efficient workforce planning
- Monitor production output and initiate root cause analysis where KPIs are not met
- Collaborate with Planning, Maintenance, Technical, and other departments to resolve production constraints
- Provide strong leadership to the production team and build a high-performance culture
- Identify and develop team leaders, ensuring cross-training and labour cover for key roles
- Manage staff performance, absences, and disciplinary matters in line with HR policies
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, team briefings, and performance appraisals
- Ensure adherence to SOPs and compliance with relevant food safety and audit standards (e.g., BRC)
- Provide data for internal and external audits, representing the production function professionally
- Support hygiene and technical teams in achieving and maintaining site standards
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise production processes
- Drive a culture of problem-solving and collaboration across departments
- Audit production standards and implement corrective actions where required
- Ensure all production tasks are carried out safely and in compliance with site policies
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and waste management
- Support environmental compliance efforts and staff training on relevant procedures
- Proven experience in a manufacturing leadership role (food manufacturing preferred)
- 3+ years’ experience managing teams in a high-paced environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Knowledge of compliance standards (BRC or equivalent)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with manufacturing software a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and a hands-on, flexible approach
