About The RoleAre you an experienced Senior Freshwater Ecologist and looking for an opportunity to step up and take on more responsibility? Do you possess an extensive understanding of policy, legislation, and the complex issues surrounding freshwater ecosystems? Are you eager to step into a leadership role, drive exciting projects, manage clients, produce excellent technical reports, and leverage your expertise to shape present and future initiatives?We are actively seeking a Principal Freshwater Ecologist to join our existing Irish ecology team in Cork. In this exciting leadership role, you'll be leading project management, client interaction, fieldwork, business development, overseeing technical reports and also be managing, developing and mentoring junior staff.As such, Experience in the preparation of high quality scientific/ecological reports and tenders, or funding proposals, is a requirement. Good knowledge of, as well as an ability to use, GIS software and appropriate system for Ireland would also be an added advantage.To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in an environmental or ecological subject
  • Clean, full driving licence
  • Willing and able to time away from home (travel to and from sites with overnight stays)
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Flexible, adaptable and punctual
  • Experience of report writing
  • Working as part of a team
  • Health and Safety requirements for fieldwork
  • Managing and working with colleagues and junior staff on projects
