The NMC Broadcast Engineer will be required to diagnose problems and service affecting issues across the transmission network and possess a level of understanding of the systems enough to undertake first line maintenance and remedial action prior to any escalation of an issue.
The NMC is normally the first point of contact for the business customers of 2rn; it also deals with reception queries and requests for transmission information from members of the public.
As such, the role is highly visible with a primary customer facing focus.Key Responsibilities include:· Monitoring & Control of the 2rn Distribution Network, the 2rn Contribution Network, the 2rn Analogue Radio Transmission Network, the 2rn DTT Transmission Network and the DTH platform.
· Fault diagnosis and identification
· Systems interrogation and fault analysis
· Dissemination of data and information within 2rn
· Communication to central and regional management regarding the nature of and duration of incidents
· First line maintenance of the 2rn transmission systems network
· Primary liaison with the business customers of 2rn
· Primary point of contact for the public
· Maintenance and management of the 2rn website
· Collation of systems metrics data for spot trend and availability reporting
· Primary contact liaison regarding transmission site access, and primary point of contact for lone working field-based staff
· Specification of user requirement prior to any NMC upgradesKnowledge & Experience:Applicants must:· Hold a technical qualification in electronics or telecommunications.
· Have previous experience working in a technical and business customer focused environment.
· Have strong IT skills including competency with MS Office applications.
· Demonstrate excellent customer service & communication skills (verbal & written), together with a professional telephone manner.
· Have the ability to work in a pressurised environment and to proactively engage in problem solving and first line maintenance.
· Be performance driven, goal oriented with excellent organisational skills.
· Be available to work shifts rostered over 7 days (currently 7am-3pm,3pm-12midnight, 10am-7pm & weekends 8am-10pm)RemunerationA competitive salary, plus shift allowance, will be offered dependent on experience and qualifications.
