Injection Moulding Technician – Back End DaysLocation: WaterfordFull-Time | Permanent | 8am–8pm (Thu–Sat, plus every second Sun)Hartley People Recruitment is seeking a hands-on, technically proficient Injection Moulding Technician to join a high-performing manufacturing environment. This fixed shift opportunity suits a proactive technician with strong process, troubleshooting, and tooling experience in high-volume moulding.The role is critical to supporting and optimising production output, ensuring quality compliance, and facilitating tooling transitions and process validation. Strong ownership and a solutions mindset are essential.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee safe and efficient injection moulding process start-up, in-run monitoring, and shutdowns to meet production targets across customer volume, yield, scrap, and material cost.
  • Lead escalation responses for process issues, applying root cause analysis to resolve in a timely and structured manner.
  • Coordinate and execute tool set-ups and changeovers to meet operational efficiency and output requirements.
  • Support the development and validation of new moulding processes, prototypes, and tooling in collaboration with process engineers.
  • Maintain full and accurate documentation within the moulding area, ensuring compliance across shift operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects using decoupled process methodology and lean tools to enhance performance and equipment reliability.
  • Participate in visual management, handovers, and operational reporting. Act in a leadership capacity when required.
  • Collaborate with quality to address and resolve non-conformances.
  • Ensure strict compliance with EHS and cGMP policies, including supporting 5S, audits, and continuous safety improvements.
  • Support training and knowledge sharing across the injection moulding team and participate in developing work instructions and documentation.
  • Consistently apply techniques and learning from JABIL Process training.
  • Other duties as may reasonably be assigned in line with evolving company needs.
Requirements:
  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent required; relevant third-level qualification (e.g. Level 6 in Mechanical/Plastics Engineering) preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in injection moulding, ideally in a high-volume healthcare manufacturing environment.
  • Proven capability in mould tool set-up, handling diverse mould types and plastic materials.
  • Additional process technician training or certification is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in machine operation, process documentation, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, organisational skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and IT skills.
