St Lachtain's Parish require a caretaker/Groundskeeper to ensure that the parish church, parochial house, and surrounding grounds are well-maintained, clean, safe, and welcoming for parishioners, clergy, and visitors. Key Responsibilities 1. Building Care & Maintenance Open and secure the church and parochial house at agreed times. Carry out routine cleaning of the church, sacristy, parish hall, and common areas. Undertake minor repairs (changing bulbs, fixing locks, etc.). Arrange and oversee contractors for larger maintenance work when required. Monitor heating, lighting, and ventilation systems, ensuring energy is used efficiently. 2. Groundskeeping Maintain gardens, lawns, and flowerbeds (mowing, weeding, planting). Keep paths, entrances, and car parks tidy and safe (including gritting in icy weather). Dispose of rubbish and recycling appropriately. Look after any outdoor religious features (statues, grottos, crosses). 3. Support for Parish Life Set up church/hall for liturgies, parish meetings, and events. Assist clergy with practical needs (e.g., preparing guest rooms in parochial house). Keep sacristy and liturgical items in good order (candles, altar linens, supplies). 4. Health & Safety / Security Ensure buildings are secure when not in use. Maintain records for fire safety, alarms, and emergency equipment. Report hazards or maintenance issues promptly.
