
Senior HV Electrical Engineer

- Respond to technical queries raised during project execution and ensure timely resolution in line with TSO standards.
- Review detailed designs for transmission substations against functional specifications and standard design criteria.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and verify compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
- Support the commissioning process by issuing instructions and confirming that transmission system readiness criteria are met.
- Liaise with engineering vendors, customer representatives, and internal stakeholders across the full project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with engineering peers to address technical challenges, ensure design intent is maintained, and escalate issues as required.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff and represent the engineering team during project meetings and reviews.
- Lead and document Stage Gate Reviews and Lessons Learned exercises following project energisation.
- Contribute to formal project audits and reviews and support ongoing quality and compliance initiatives.
- Participate in interface activities with partner organisations, ensuring consistent communication and technical alignment.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).
- Minimum 4–5 years’ post-qualification experience in electrical engineering roles.
- Hands-on expertise in transmission substation design at 110/220/400 kV.
- Proven experience in reviewing substation designs and technical specifications.
- Expertise in conducting on-site construction inspections.
- Demonstrated ability to support the commissioning of transmission infrastructure.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills, particularly for reporting and issue resolution.
- Full driver’s licence, with flexibility to travel to sites as needed.
- Experience working within or alongside TSO or DSO organisations.
- Familiarity with functional specification development for HV plant.
- Knowledge of Stage Gate project management or equivalent engineering assurance models.
- Exposure to interface management between utilities, vendors, and design contractors.
- Experience facilitating or participating in technical audits or external project reviews.
