- Laboratory and data analysis to a high standard.
- Record keeping and analytical report preparation.
- Adherence to sample turnaround times.
- Maintain traceability of samples within the laboratory, including sample reception.
- Equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.
- Method validation and writing of validation report.
- Contribute to good governance in the laboratory, including active participation in training, laboratory upkeep, and improvement.
- Ensure quality control within the laboratory, including charting and critical assessment of results, documenting SOPs, and auditing.
- To assist Teagasc in meeting the commitments of the Quality Customer Service Charter and Action Plan.
- To actively participate in the annual business planning and Performance Management Development System (PMDS) processes.
- Fully co-operate with the provisions made for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of themselves, fellow staff and non-Teagasc staff and co-operate with management in enabling Teagasc to comply with legal obligations. This includes full compliance with the responsibilities outlined in the Safety Statement.

- A postgraduate degree and/or research experience in Chemistry would be a distinct advantage
- Experience in method development with analytical instruments such as HPLC, UHPLC, MS, GC, IC.
- Experience in residue analysis by LC-MS/MS.
- Experience in analytical instrument troubleshooting.
- Organisational skills, report writing, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of Analytical Chemistry.
- Statistical analysis, method validation, and experimental design.
- Quality in experimental work.
- Proven record of scientific communication.
- Aptitude for multi-disciplinary approaches.
- Experience in a food testing laboratory.
- Ability to work as part of a team, including consulting, collaborating and building relationships with key stakeholders.
