In this role, you will work closely with the Test Automation Architect and cross-functional teams to help scale test automation solutions.Automation in Software TestingAt Lilly, our Technology Enablement initiatives—particularly within the Enterprise Test Automation Centre of Excellence (TACoE)—are designed to leverage modern tools and practices to enhance the quality, speed, and reliability of software delivery. We are committed to embedding automated testing into the core of our engineering processes, enabling innovation, reducing manual effort, and delivering sustainable value to our operations and customers.As a Test Automation Expert within Lilly’s Enterprise Test Automation Centre of Excellence, you will play a critical role in driving the adoption of cutting-edge test automation frameworks, fostering a culture of continuous integration and deployment, and guiding teams across the enterprise to achieve robust, scalable, and efficient test automation practices. This role requires a strong blend of leadership, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of modern testing practices, particularly within regulated environments like healthcare and pharmaceuticals.Key responsibilities:
  • Serve as a liaison across various Tech@Lilly functional areas to promote and support enterprise-wide test automation tools & initiatives
  • Act as a consulting partner to functional teams, identifying automation opportunities and guiding the implementation of scalable, sustainable test automation strategies
  • Collaborate with various functional areas and the Enterprise Test Automation team to bridge gaps and ensure effective automation solutions
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of Test Leads and Engineers to rapidly initiate and scale test automation efforts
  • Provide expert consultation on test automation tools, solution fit, and best practices.
  • Champion an “automation-first” mindset in test execution strategies and software delivery
  • Develop deep technical expertise in test automation platforms and industry best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement
  • Align people, tools, and processes to enable rapid and reusable automation solutions across the enterprise.
  • Continuously evaluate and validate emerging automation tools and technologies to ensure Lilly remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Collaborate with the Test Automation Architect to ensure platform stability, security, performance, and scalability.
  • Partner with peers to define and maintain automation metrics and KPIs, including dashboards and automated reporting.
  • Work closely with delivery teams to anticipate demand, plan capacity, and ensure timely project execution
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience as a technical leader, with the ability to influence strategic direction and drive implementation across multiple projects.
  • Experience in software testing and test automation tools and technologies
  • Proficiency in various testing types: functional, integration, regression, mobile, data, cross-platform, component, security, and UI/UX testing.
  • Strong understanding of hybrid cloud and cloud-native architectures, integration strategies, and security considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, lead diverse teams, and drive operational improvements
  • Should have experience with stakeholder management, influencing without authority, relationship management
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Preferred Skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Exposure to Power BI, Splunk, or similar monitoring/reporting tools.
  • Experience leading testing teams / executing large scale test plans for complex systems
  • High intellectual and technical curiosity with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Functional Testing, API Testing and Performance Testing experience
  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript testing frameworks such as Cypress and Playwright.
  • Experience with BDD frameworks, particularly Cucumber.
  • Hands-on experience with API testing and performance testing tools such as k6, LoadRunner, and JMeter.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience in Python scripting for automation and testing tasks
  • Expertise in mobile application testing across both iOS and Android platforms, with hands-on experience using tools like Appium and implementing industry best practices.
