PURPOSE OF THE ROLEDue to continued success and ambitious growth plans, there is now a requirement for an additional Disputes Lawyer (2 PQE+) to join our Dublin practice.
From the outset this opportunity will provide a high level of client contact and the chance to play a pivotal role in supporting a range of commercial and financial disputes matters, as the team continue to win larger and more complex mandates.THE TEAMThe Dublin Disputes practice currently comprises of 30 plus colleagues, including 8 Partners and 12 other fee earners who work on a mixture of complex Commercial and Financial Litigation matters.
We have a broad commercial client base who operate across a range of sectors and include household names such as Marks & Spencer, Vodafone, BMW and all major financial institutions operating in Ireland.

All team members participate in business development efforts including networking events, building relationships with potential clients, and contributing to our marketing initiatives.WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLEYou can expect to work on a variety of commercial disputes including contractual disputes, property related disputes, financial services disputes, debt and asset recovery, shareholder disputes, insurance disputes and product liability claims.
Your role will involve taking responsibility for the day to day operation of a dispute - being the first point of contact for both client and Counsel, keeping a matter moving, while keeping the supervising Partner informed and knowing when to ask for support.
You will build an internal network amongst your peers so that we can better support clients of the firm.
You will supervise trainees and interns and deliver internal training as part of our ongoing education programs and your own development.YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISETo be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Have at least 2 years + experience within Disputes matters, gained in a comparable private practice environment and seeking a challenging and interesting role.
  • Strong experience in acting for commercial clients in a range of disputes.
  • Knowledge of Irish Courts practice and procedure.
  • Experience of all phases in litigation to include drafting letters of advice, pre action correspondence, pleadings, discovery and preparation for hearings.
  • Ability to attend Court, actively manage and progress a varied caseload and to work in a busy team.
  • Have enthusiasm, resilience, and ambition to find solutions to clients' legal challenges and requirements.
  • Be a confident stakeholder manager, with evidenced experience of engaging with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
  • Adopt a consultative and thorough approach to tasks.
  • Maintain efficient diary and task management across a range of matters, ensuring the accuracy and levels of client service expected within a high performing team.
  • Be confident in drafting clear and legally effective documents, which reflect the client's instructions.
  • Remain calm and optimistic in time sensitive situations or under pressure.
  • Be enthusiastic about the development of your legal skill set and continuous learning.
  • Be inquisitive and want to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that your advice has quality, imagination, and impact.
  • Experience of alternative dispute resolution such as arbitration and/or mediation would be advantageous but not essential.
