Application Details This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process. Job Description A position is available to work alongside the Growing team at Brill FRC. Experience the seasonal tasks required to keep the gardens/grounds looking their best. During the placement you will gain hands-on experience working with experienced staff members. Throughout the placement you will learn and assist with the following, - The planting and routine care of items for sale within the garden centre; shrubs, bedding plants, vegetables, hanging baskets etc., and work to a specific planting plan - the maintenance of the garden site in general and the Garden Centre specifically; weeding, pruning, grooming, staking and dead heading. - Mowing lawns and strim/spray within the overall Community Campus if requested. - Specific produce schemes developed by the Garden Centre that relate to market sale, Harvest Festival etc - Keeping an inventory of horticulture tools and machinery, and to keep all items in good condition. - The laying of paths, display features and fences - Cleaning the Garden Centre area and remove rubbish - Attend weekly planning meetings of the overall Horticulture - Take direction from the Garden Manager on the sale of garden centre stock to the general public - The care and maintenance of stock within poly-tunnels Role Description The participant will receive formal/ informal training in the following This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.
