- Maintain and optimize production applications under real-world load and user traffic
- Manage database operations including performance tuning, backup strategies, failover procedures, and capacity planning
- Operate messaging systems with focus on throughput, reliability, and message delivery guarantees
- Administer NoSQL databases including monitoring, scaling, data consistency, and disaster recovery
- Troubleshoot production incidents and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurrence
- Monitor system health and proactively address performance bottlenecks before they impact users
- Implement robust backup and disaster recovery procedures that have been tested under real conditions
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure applications are production-ready and operationally sound
- 3+ years of hands-on production support for web applications or distributed systems
- Database administration experience with production databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)
- Messaging system operations (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, or similar) in production environments
- NoSQL database management (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or similar) including scaling and performance optimization
- Production incident response experience with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot under pressure
- Monitoring and alerting setup and management (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar)
- Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) used for ongoing operations, not just initial setup
