- Product Leadership:
- Work closely with the ground product director to design, develop, and manage Crane’s ground transportation product portfolio across Europe, including FTL, LTL, groupage, express, final mile, and white glove services.
- Management of tenders/RFQ/RFI & spot quotations incorporating targeted supplier engagement and solution design whilst respecting customer deadlines.
- Collaboration with Local Branches:
- Liaise with existing countries and branches where Crane controls local ground transportation activities.
- Drive alignment between local operations and regional strategy to ensure consistency, efficiency, and best-in-class service delivery.
- Carrier Procurement and Rationalization:
- Management of new supplier onboarding & approval and blacklisting as agreed with ground product director.
- Support ground transportation procurement strategy.
- Rationalize the number of hauliers in use across Europe to leverage Crane's total spend, improve service levels, and create scalable solutions as agreed with the ground product director.
- Support and maintain senior relationships with key regional and local carriers.
- Financial Management:
- Key stakeholder in implementation, recording and monitoring of cost savings as a result of successful procurement with escalation for non-compliance per station/Country to ground product director, as necessary.
- Support ground transportation P&L performance with key focus areas as outlined by the ground product director.
- Optimize cost structures through procurement, operational efficiency, and network synergies.
- High-Value/Hi-Tech Expertise:
- Support with development of secure, specialized transport solutions for sensitive, high-value cargo and high-tech supply chains.
- Final Mile and White Glove Expansion:
- Stakeholder in building final mile and premium service capabilities across Europe, ensuring high-touch, customer-centric delivery models.
- Operational Standards and Best Practices:
- Oversee supplier implementation to new business and new supplier to existing lane until implemented into operational teams successfully as agreed with ground product director and/or Country manager.
- Establish and roll out regional best practices in ground transportation operations, security, carrier management, and compliance as agreed with the ground product director.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across the network.
- Technology Integration:
- Partner with IT and digital teams to ensure ground transportation services are fully enabled with best-in-class technology (e.g., TMS, tracking/visibility tools).
- Customer Solutions:
- Collaborate with Sales, Solutions De
- sign, and Key Account Management teams to deliver innovative, tailored transportation solutions to Crane clients and potential Crane clients.
- Leadership:
- Lead a network of ground transportation specialists to support operational excellence and commercial success across Europe.
- Responsible for creating and monitoring goals and performance reviews of direct reports
- Oversee, mentor and assist other team members as needed Manages team in process and continuous improvement efforts

- These would relate to the role as described above
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in transportation and logistics, with at least 5 years in senior leadership overseeing ground transportation products across Europe.
- Carrier Procurement Expertise:
- Proven experience leading procurement initiatives with significant carrier spend.
- Established relationships at a senior level with major European ground hauliers.
- Network Optimization Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to rationalize supplier bases and leverage spend across multi-country networks.
- Industry Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of high-tech, high-value, and sensitive supply chains is highly desirable.
- Experience in final mile and white glove service development is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong commercial and financial management capabilities.
- Exceptional negotiation, leadership, and collaboration skills.
- High proficiency in transport management systems (TMS) ,digital logistics platforms and financial system.
- Language: Fluent in English; proficiency in additional European languages (e.g., German, French, Dutch) is a plus.
- Travel: Ability to travel across Europe as deemed necessary by ground product director.
- Talking, hearing, and using hands to operate computer equipment.
- Vision abilities required by this job including close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Full clean Driver's License
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (master’s preferred)
- At least 10 years of relevant experience.
