Our award-winning cafés and restaurants celebrate artisanal food sourced locally and globally.We are now seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to help lead the team at our Fodder restaurant in Avoca Ballsbridge.About the roleAs Sous Chef, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, working closely with the Head Chef and front-of-house team to deliver a consistently exceptional experience. You’ll take pride in upholding Avoca’s high culinary standards and bring your creativity, leadership, and attention to detail to every service.Key responsibilities· Kitchen Leadership: Support the Head Chef in managing a motivated and efficient kitchen team.· Menu Innovation: Contribute to seasonal menu development using fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients.· Food Quality: Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to an excellent standard.· HACCP Compliance: Maintain rigorous food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring all procedures align with EHO regulations.· Stock Management: Implement FIFO practices and maintain well-organised storage areas.· Team Development: Inspire a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountabilityWhat we are looking for· Proven experience in a high-volume restaurant or café environment· Strong leadership and communication skills· A proactive, hands-on approach and excellent work ethic· Genuine passion for fresh, seasonal food and high standards· Organised and calm under pressure with strong multitasking abilities· Flexibility to support where needed across the kitchen operationKey competencies· Cleanliness & organisation· Time management and reliability· Multitasking in a fast-paced environment· Flexibility to adapt to business needs and changing rostersWhy join Avoca· Daytime working hours· Pension scheme· Professional development opportunities· Health & wellness programmes· Employee assistance programme· Employee share purchase plan· Referral bonus· Family-friendly policies· Life assurance benefit· Cycle to Work scheme
